2. The Owners agree to let, and the Admiralty agree to hire the said Steamship for a term of
Calendar Months certain from the day she is placed at the disposal of the Admiralty at
in such Dock or at such Wharf or place imme- diately available, as Admiralty may direct, she being then ready to receive cargo and tight, staunch, strong, and in every way fitted for service, and to be so maintained during the currency of this Charter, and with full complement of Officers, Beamen, Engineers, and Firemen for a steamer of her tonnage and description (see also clauses 16 and 17).

Limits of employment.
9. The steamer shall be employed:--
•
(a) within the Coasting limits,
*(6) between auch porta in any part of the world as the Admiralty-may direct.

The cargo or cargoes shall be laden and/or discharged alongside any Ship or in any Dock, or at any Wharf or place that the Admiralty may direct, where she can always safely fio afloat except at porte or places where it is 20 customary for steamers of similar size or draft to load or discharge partly on soft ground.
The whole reach, burthen and passenger accommodation of the steamer (not exceeding what she can reasonably stow and carry) shall be at the service of the Admiralty, saving only proper and sufficient space for Ship's Officers, Crew, tackle, #pparel, furcitare, provisions and stores.
Hire to commence on and from the day of delivery to the Admiralty, not being Bunday or public holiday, 25 provided that written notice of readiness be given by the Owners or their representative and accepted by the Admiralty Officer or Agent at the port before noon, otherwise the hire to begin on and from the next legal day, unless otherwise agraed.
5. The Admiralty agree to pay for the use and hire of the said steamer at the rate of
per calendar month commencing when she is placed at Admiralty disposal as provided in clanss 4.
6. The steamer (unless lost) shall be redelivered to the Owners at any United Kingdom Coal Port or at any of the Home Dockyards (including Rowyth and Cromarty) after the completion of the voyage or service on which the steamer in engaged at the time of the expiry of the period certain. Hire to cease from the day (not being Sunday or a public holiday) on which the steamer may be reported by the Government Officer or Agent at the port to have been finally cleared of Government stores, pay being allowed for such day.
If lost, hire will be paid up to and including the date of loss, or the date last seen, if missing. Any hire paid in advance and not earned to be refunded to the Admiralty.
7. The Admiralty have the option of continuing this Charter for further period of months, in which case notice of continuation to be given et laaut

8. This Charter is subject to the steamer being found on inspection by the Admiralty Inspectors to be tight, staunch, strong, and in every way fitted for the service.

For this inspection the Owners agree if required to drydock the steamer at their own expense before she enters into pay, to clear and paint her bottom, open up or test under steam any parts of the machinery sad boilers or try the vessel under steam all as may be considered necessary by the Admiralty, to produce certificates aigued by competent tradesmen that the following 45 fittings and gear have been examined and are in thoroughly good working order, namely, rudder and steering gear, pumps and fire engines, boats, anchors, cables, windlass, hawsers, maste, derricks, whips, blocks, and other gear necessary for the discharge of the steamer's cargo (sse clauses 36, 37 and 44) and to make good at their own expense any defects likely to interfere with the satisfactory fulfilment of the service for which she is required.
The following shall be on board the steamer at the time of the inspection, viz.!—
The Owner or his representative,
The Marine Superintendent or Master,
The Superintendent Engineer or Chief Engineer,
and if not alongside a wharf the Owners must arrange for the conveyance of the Inspectors to and from the steamST.

■teamer in drydock, nor to open up the machinery and boilers, but shall produce the certificates named above and in addition a certificate signed by
that the machinery and boilers have besu examined and are in thoroughly good working order and provided with the spare gear suitable for the service.
